Meet Leisa

Leisa Walker-Akinrolabu, LCSW

I am a clinical social worker, researcher, and educator passionate about dismantling disparities in special education. With over a decade of experience supporting children impacted by trauma and a commitment to culturally inclusive teaching practices, I help schools and families create environments where every child—especially those who are culturally and linguistically diverse—can thrive. Through training, research, and storytelling, I bridge the worlds of mental health, equity, and education.

I work closely with individuals and families experiencing symptoms of Post-traumatic Stress, Anxiety, Depression, Adjustment, and Co-occurring disorders. I have vast experience assisting families with navigating special education services and supports, as well as stress management, work-life balance, parenting issues, grief, and loss.

I believe…

• All people have the power to change

• Children are more resilient than many adults believe

• Healthy relationships sustain life

• There is nothing more satisfying than reaching a goal
